  • Join becomes official messenger of ICOVAI to help fight COVID-19

Erlangen, July 2020 – The Healthcare IT company Allm is the newest member of the International Consortium for COVID-19 imaging AI (ICOVAI), an initiative aiming to develop and deploy a not-for-profit cloud-based AI solution for COVID-19 triaging. Allm provides their clinical messenger app Join to enhance communication and sharing of DICOM data sets and results within the growing ICOVAI network.

Since CT chest imaging seems promising approach for rapid triaging COVID-19, ICOVAI’s goal is to develop and implement a validated AI solution at scale for COVID-19 triaging and risk stratification via CT chest imaging. A big challenge: How can medical professional get access to the results, especially when they are not in the hospital?

Join enables doctors to access DICOM data sets and AI results on their mobile devices, regardless of time and place. Via a link to the AI solutions StrokeViewer by Nico.lab and Veye Chest by Aidence, ICOVAI members can receive, edit and share these results, thus speeding up communication and knowledge sharing.

“We are proud to be part of ICOVAI”, says Sebastian von Lovenberg, Head of Sales DACH, Allm EMEA GmbH. “The project brings medical professionals, AI experts, IT providers and researchers together, sharing know-how and expertise to fight COVID-19 side by side. Since teamwork and cooperation is needed to overcome the current crisis, we are glad to provide Join as the official communication tool.”

“Processing thousands of CT chest scans a week, we have extensive experience in developing, certifying and deploying imaging AI solutions at scale across multiple European, UK and US hospitals”, says Merel Boers, CEO of Nico.lab and founder of ICOVAI. “With Join, we now have a safe and secure communication tool, enabling medical professionals to discuss and share results, information and expertise quickly and precisely. A great support in our joint fight against COVID-19.”
